Driver’s License Reacquisition? The Flow Of Reacquisition And Necessary Items

Your driver’s license must be renewed once every three or five years at the Driver’s License Examination Center or police station.

Here, we have summarized the flow of re-acquisition for each case where the driver’s license has expired, and the belongings required for reissue, so please refer to it.

WHEN IS THE DRIVER’S LICENSE RENEWAL DEADLINE?

The driver’s license renewal period is one month before and after your birthday.

In other words, you only have to renew within 2 months. To replace Texas car title, we would be able to help you further.

* If the last day of the expiration date is Saturday, Sunday, national holidays, and the year-end and New Year holidays, the next weekday will be the last day of the renewal period.

If you have an unavoidable reason such as planning to be hospitalized, you can renew your driver’s license before the renewal period.

WHAT IF MY DRIVER’S LICENSE EXPIRES? IS IT POSSIBLE TO UPDATE?

When your license expires, the important period is from the date of expiration, and you can reissue it within 6 months with a relatively simple procedure.

However, after 6 months or more, you may need to pass the driver’s license examination center’s academic test or proficiency test again.

If you do not renew your driver’s license by the expiration date: Please note that if you do not renew within the renewal period, your license will expire and you will not be able to drive until the reissue period.

It can be reissued at the nearest Driver’s License Examination Center within 6 months after the expiration date set on the last day of the renewal period.

Within 6 months, you will be exempt from the academic test and proficiency test and license can be reissued only by aptitude test.

If your driver’s license expires due to a violation of the Road Traffic Act: First of all, if your license is suspended, you will not be able to drive for 30 to 180 days, but after the number of days specified by criminal or administrative sanctions, you will be able to drive without any special procedures.

On the other hand, if you want to revoke your license, you need to renew your license from the beginning.

After expiring the “missing period” in which you cannot obtain a license and taking a training course for violators of revocation, you can regain your license if you go to a driving school or pass a one-shot test.

THE FLOW OF REACQUISITION

There are various reasons for your license to expire, such as “I forgot to renew my license” or “I lost my license”, but the procedure differs depending on the reason for your license to expire, so be sure to check.

If you forget the renewal deadline and do not renew: If you have forgotten to renew your driver’s license without malicious intent, you can reissue it within 6 months after the expiration date with only an aptitude test.

If it is more than 6 months old, you can get a temporary license by taking an aptitude test and a course within 1 year, but to get this license, you need to go to a driving school or have a driver’s license. You need to pass the one-shot test at the driving school.

Please note that if more than a year has passed since the expiration date, you will need to go to a driving school from scratch to obtain it.

If you cannot renew due to illness or injury: If you cannot renew your license due to unavoidable circumstances such as illness or injury within one month from the end, and within three years after revocation”, again only in training and aptitude test, it is possible to get it.

However, be sure to have a medical certificate and passport ready to prove your hospitalization or injury.

If your license cannot be renewed due to loss or theft: In the unlikely event that your driver’s license is lost or stolen, you should proceed with the following two procedures as soon as possible.

① Report the loss to the police: If you lose your driver’s license due to loss or theft, the first thing you need to do is file a loss report.

By reporting the loss, you may be able to find it before re-acquiring it, and you can prevent the misuse of your driver’s license, so be sure to do it.

② Reissue at the nearest Driver’s License Examination Center or police station: If you cannot find your license even after submitting a loss report, or if you need a license immediately, you can reissue it at the nearest driver’s license examination center or police station.

* If you reissue the driver’s license at the Driver’s license Examination Center, it will be issued on the same day, but if you apply at the police station, it will take about 2 weeks to issue it, so be careful.

Please note that if you drive while you do not have a driver’s license, you will be in violation of the Road Traffic Act, which is called “unlicensed”.
